After discovering what Children's Hopechest is trying to accomplish this year for Christmas, the kids were so excited to brainstorm a way to help. This is their idea! Sydney will introduce it, and then I'll add more of the information.
Have you ever wanted to be a part of making a difference?
We are partnering with Children’s Hopechest to help bring the good news of Jesus to orphans in Russia in a unique way. Over the past few years, the Russian government has worked to greatly restrict the work of Christian organizations, keeping them from helping these kids. Therefore, Children’s Hopechest is pursuing creative strategies to ensure that even with these restrictions, they can still proclaim the love of Jesus to orphans in Russia.
They want to give each child a copy of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. In addition, they want to provide teaching materials and training to the workers to help them use the story effectively to tell of the saving grace of Jesus.
This is where we come in! Here's how:
1. Get a copy of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.
2. Use the sponsor sheet to get sponsors for each chapter you read (or your parent reads to you). For example, ask your grandparent if they would give you $1 for each chapter. There are 17 chapters, so if you finish, they would owe you $17.
3. When you finish the book, collect the donations.
4. RSVP with Julie for the Narnia party (Nov. 4)!
5. Celebrate with us on Friday, November 4! We will have a Narnia party at the LeFevre’s.
OUR GOAL: We would love to raise $500. This would cover the cost for almost 17 orphans to receive this gift. We can’t do this on our own, so would you consider joining us?
Just as “Aslan is on the Move” in Narnia, so is God on the move in our world. Wouldn’t it be so fun to be a part of telling kids in Russia about the true “Aslan”?!
