On Saturday, we all joined in to help paint Grandma's garage. It looks so nice!

The other day, the kids transformed our closet into a pillow playhouse! They spent hours in that small space.

First Day of School!

August 13 was the first day of school! Boy, we had such a fun summer, so it was sad to see the "end"; however, the kids were excited to start their year. This year was a little different because the kids are going to a new school.

That morning, we took Sydney to third grade. How is this possible?! She has done a great job so far in adjusting to a new teacher, new school and new friends.


That afternoon, we loaded back up and took Jackson to kindergarten. You might notice Jackson's patch. We found out the day before that Jackson had to wear a patch over his "good" eye because he has "Amblyopia"--lazy eye. This was a bit traumatic, mostly for Mom, but he has handled it well! Much of this is because God really took care of Jackson. First, his glasses arrived a week early. This significantly helped him to see, and he had to go to school only one day without the glasses. Second, he met a boy in his class who also had glasses. This boy told him, "I used to wear a patch, too!" Thank you , Jesus, for watching over us last week!

Take Me Out to the Ballgame!

This past week, we took the kids to the NBC tournament.

I think the kids live for the treats, so we splurged on the icecream in the baseball cap cups. Messy, but Fun!

House Update

When we returned from Alaska,
we found the house had changed a bit.
We now have brick and sheetrock!

When we went out this weekend,
we saw they had started the woodwork
and the cabinets.

Penner Family Reunion!

We went to the Penner Family Reunion the first weekend in August.

We started the weekend off with a good rodeo.
As you can see, the kids loved it! Jackson couldn't look away, even for me to take a picture of his new cowboy hat!

We had a great time watching the bull-riders,
the bronco-riders, the ropers, the riders, etc!

Saturday was a fun day where we got to hang out at Grandpa and Grandma Penner's house. We joked about how the aunts and uncles went all-out. All we had to play with was a rusty can!

The day was really fun because all the second cousins got to play with each other.
There were 19 of them, so everyone had a playmate!

On Sunday, we ate a lunch at church.
Then, the kids sang a song and did a routine that Aunt Laura taught them.

(If you notice that Chris wasn't in any of the pictures,
he spent part of the weekend climbing Pikes Peak!
He was tired when he got back.)

Summer Project

Chris and Jackson decided to make their own swords.
Here, they are sanding.Then, painting.

They've spray-painted the final coats, so we'll get pictures as soon as we can!
